FEA worked with Yamaha Motor Corporation to develop a Business Continuity Plan. Effective business continuity planning provides guidance to ensure the ability of personnel to respond, resume, and recover to a pre-determined level of operations following a disruption.
FEA initiated the project by collaborating with Yamaha to review the overall goals and objectives for the project. We reviewed existing policies, practices, and guidelines related to business continuity evaluating existing business continuity policies and practices to determine what steps needed to be taken to update the business continuity program.
We performed a high-level gap analysis to assess the current state of the business continuity planning relative to industry best practices. We performed a business impact analysis to determine critical functions, resources, and suppliers. We also conducted a risk assessment to prioritize threats and risks to each location. The updated plan included the following elements:
- Roles and Responsibilities
- Continuity of Operation Procedures
- Alternate Site Procedures
- Communications Plan
- Testing, Training, & Exercise Plan
- Return to Operations Procedures
Ultimately, we were able to deliver an updated business continuity plan that serves as the cornerstone of effective resilience planning efforts and frames Yamaha’s ability to respond, resume, and recover from disruptive events.
This was followed by a corporate leadership tabletop exercise to educate and reinforce the processes and procedures developed in the business continuity plan.
