FEA & Creative Mischief Emergency Preparedness Campaign Wins Award

FEA is excited to announce that our emergency preparedness communications campaign for the Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has been honored with a prestigious Communicator Award for outstanding business-to-consumer campaign. We collaborated with Creative Mischief, a branding and marketing agency, for this project.

Kenai Peninsula Borough’s Ready, Set, Go! program provides the knowledge and awareness to help the community with disaster preparedness, from flooding to wildfires. Visit the Ready, Set, Go! website to learn more about the campaign, here. You can also read this case study about the project.

Continuity of Operations Planning and Emergency Preparedness

Before working with KPB for the campaign, FEA helped KPB bolster organizational resilience and community preparedness. Our work began with a comprehensive update of the KPB continuity of operations plans (COOP) in collaboration with OEM planning teams. We conducted a Borough-wide gap analysis to pinpoint vulnerabilities, assess control measures, and developed recommendations to enhance continuity of operations. Following this, we created tabletop exercise training templates and a training plan to ensure a ready workforce.

Emergency Preparedness Communications

Recognizing the importance of community-wide engagement, KPB partnered with FEA to launch an integrated emergency preparedness campaign for its community. This initiative, based on an all-hazard approach, sought to address both natural and human-induced disasters, drawing from the national Ready Set Go! Program standards.

To bring the campaign to life, FEA teamed up with Creative Mischief. Together, we devised a strategy tailored to the unique needs of the KPB community, identifying the most effective marketing channels to reach residents. Our multifaceted approach included developing design concepts to convey emergency preparedness procedures and using multiple channels including a website, direct mail, and signage. Ultimately, the campaign successfully communicated the critical messages of the Ready Set Go!, significantly improving community awareness and readiness.

“We are incredibly proud of this achievement and the positive impact it has had on the Kenai Peninsula Borough community,” said Maureen Roskoski, Vice President at FEA. “This award is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our team, KPB, and Creative Mischief, and it underscores the importance of effective communications for emergency preparedness.”

“The Kenai Alaska Emergency Preparedness campaign presented a unique challenge to connect a diverse community separated by culture, language, and geography,” said Isham Colosetti, CEO at Creative Mischief. “Through our efforts, we swiftly built awareness and educated residents on staying safe across a wide range of emergencies.”

Let’s build excellence, together.
