Mitigating Mistakes: Don’t Overlook the Mailroom

Paul Timm encourages organizations to place instructional signage, such as a USPS poster, in their mailrooms to help provide employees with instructions on what to do should they encounter a suspicious package in his column on Mitigating Mistakes for the November 2020 edition of SecurityInfoWatch.suspicious package

If an employee who is handling mail should encounter something suspicious such as a package that is leaking or powdery, or with excessive tape or postage, that person may not know what to do. If “handled” incorrectly, that person may potentially contaminate himself/herself and others. In a worst-case scenario, a violent blast could occur.
