FEA Vice President and COO Laurie Gilmer has been appointed Chair of the Board of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), beginning a one-year term that runs through June 30, 2023. As Chair, Laurie will steer the strategic direction of the organization, helping to lead the growth and advancement of the facility management profession.
“Facilities professionals are under immense pressure as we emerge out of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Gilmer. “ I am honored to help IFMA continue to elevate the FM profession, and to find innovative ways to enable safe, healthy, resilient, productive, and cost-effective facilities that will meet the demands of today and into the future.”
Founded in 1980, IFMA is the world’s largest and most widely recognized international association for facility management professionals, supporting over 20,000 members in more than 100 countries.
Gilmer has served on the IFMA Board for the past six years , most recently as First Vice Chair. Gilmer brings over 20 years of experience helping clients with facility systems assessments, energy management, sustainability and facility management organizational analyses, and delivering best-in-class facility management services. She is a published author, regularly contributing to multiple facility management publications, and is co-author of IFMA’s second manual in the Sustainability How-to Guide Series, “EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.” She has been instrumental in raising awareness for the ENERGY STAR program through education programs, the IFMA Energy Challenge, and contributing energy analysis to IFMA’s 2017 O&M Benchmarking Report.
