Her career began in environmental consulting, focusing on aspects such as asbestos, lead, and groundwater contamination in real estate transactions. This early exposure helped her to evolve into her current role at FEA, where she transitioned to focus on resilience and sustainability and energy management in buildings.

Reflecting on her career at FEA, Maureen attributes her progression to managing substantial facility condition assessment projects and implementing a business continuity program. This initiative not only led to ISO certification but also positioned her as a leader within the organization.

When questioned about her vision of sustainable and resilient facilities, Maureen emphasizes the importance of the triple bottom line, where financial, social, and environmental factors are integrated into operational strategies. She sees sustainability evolving into resilience, emphasizing the need for organizations to not only minimize environmental impact but also withstand and recover from threats.
