Hear from GSA’s Facility Management Institute (FMI) on the recent update to the Federal Buildings Personnel Training Act (FBPTA). FMI will conduct three sessions during the day aimed at employees of federal agencies and industry representatives impacted by the Act.
In the first session, FMI’s National Program Manager, Brian Gilligan, will review the 2014 annual updates to the FBPTA competencies and qualifications. We’ll discuss upgrades to our free, online professional development tool Accelerate FM and describe how that can help you plan and justify training needs based on the requirements of the Act. We’ll review the process industry representatives can use to submit courses, certifications, and certificate programs for review by FMI.
In the second session, representatives from the GSA, Department of Defense, and Department of Veterans Affairs will discuss how they are using the Act to promote professional development in their agencies.
The final session of the day will feature a workshop where we will demonstrate the Accelerate FM tool. Users will be allowed to explore Accelerate FM to understand their professional development needs and skill gaps and leave with the input necessary to create an Individual Development Plan.
