FEA Welcomes Melissa King

Melissa KingFEA welcomes Melissa King to our Facility Engineering Services (FES) group at FEA out of our Fairfax office. Melissa King graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structures. Relevant course work included structural analysis, construction management, professionalism, economics and construction project delivery, material science and structural design courses in steel, reinforced concrete, foundations, and masonry structures.  Additionally, Melissa performed research on building vibrations, looking into the effects of vibration in buildings on humans and the building itself, the current provisions and solutions – both in the U.S. and other countries, and what is in development.  From her research, she determined the best provision for engineers to follow during design through analysis involving office floor systems.  Melissa’s prior experience includes civil-site work and land development at an internship level with Jacobs Engineering out of Arlington, VA and Dewberry & Associates out of Fairfax, VA.  Melissa gained technical and design knowledge, as well as valuable skills in AutoCAD and MicroStation, as she aided in projects.
At Penn State, Melissa was involved in the student chapter of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) as historian and part of the Concrete Canoe Team, participating as a rower and the artistic development team leader.   Outside of work she is a runner, spending most nights (or early mornings!) with her running group and is currently training for her first half marathon.

Let’s build excellence, together.
