Please join in welcoming Kion Gibbs as part of the Facility Consulting Services group in our Fairfax office.
Kion is a recent graduate of Ferris State University (FSU), where he dual-majored in Facility Management, and Architecture and Sustainability. Prior to completion of his dual Bachelor of Science degrees, Kion also received his Associates of Applied Science in Architectural Technology from FSU. Kion is a member of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), and served as the vice president of the FSU student chapter prior to gradation. In his role as vice president, Kion was fundamental in organizing multiple educational facility tours, as well as assisting in fundraising to allow chapter members to attend World Workplace in Denver, Colorado.
Kion interned with the Office of Housing and Residence Life at Ferris State University; he improved project completion rate of residence hall and on-campus apartment renovations; developed a furniture inventory for the 17 buildings, displaying images and the condition of each piece; and designed the furniture layout for a more modern appearance in residence hall lobbies. Most recently, Kion interned with the Smithsonian Institutions (SI) Office of Facilities Management and Reliability (OFMR). In this capacity with OFMR, Kion reduced project costs through effective research and efficient project scope development at the National Museum of Natural History; developed a natural disaster emergency preparedness document for the National Zoological Park; and presented the accomplishments, results, and implications of SI facility management internships to executives of the Office of Facilities Engineering and Operations.
