The University of Maryland (UMD) has worked with FEA for facilities management since 2013. UMD has 254 buildings at its main campus in College Park, totaling 14 million square feet.
Facility Condition Assessments
FEA conducted facility condition assessments of nearly 200 buildings on the College Park campus. UMD sought a defensible, data-driven budget and management plan. FEA’s approach and innovative asset inventory process reduced costs and completed the project in a timely manner.
Preventive Maintenance Program
The university needed a consistent, sustainable and effective preventive maintenance program to preserve the useful service life of existing facilities and building systems, while optimizing performance. The objective was to maximize limited O&M funding to sustain the life of UMD’s equipment. FEA’s approach helped facilities management improve maintenance practices to prolong equipment life, maximize reliability and generate better data to inform future stewardship decisions.
Performance Management
UMD needed a performance management system that enabled facilities management to make sound, data-driven decisions and demonstrate measurable outcomes from the use of resources. Inherent with this project was the need to reduce the effort required to track FM performance measures and increase the reliability of the data from which metrics are generated.
