The Wyoming School Facilities Department (WSFD) has worked with FEA since 2006.Work began with an initial facility condition assessment and has expanded over the years.
Facility Condition Assessments
FEA initially performed facility condition assessments for WSFD, returning over time to conclude assessments for 500 buildings across the state, totaling over 22 million square feet. Using a systems-level approach, we developed cost models for each building to estimate the cost of deferred maintenance and current replacement value.
Educational suitability and technology readiness were calculated with the facility condition needs index (FCNI). FCNI scores were based on standards for air quality, illumination standards and electrical capacity.
The State Building Commission also asked FEA to complete facility condition assessments for over 300 state owned hospitals, prisons, youth homes, administration buildings and health centers. A unique cost model specific to the state building network was developed and implemented for this assessment.
Physical School Security Assessment
FEA also performed school physical security assessments for WSFD. We rated elements within each building on the ability to deter, detect, delay, communicate and respond in the event of an emergency or intruder. We identified areas in schools and associated buildings that could reduce risk in the event of an intrusion or attack. FEA completed the assessment of more than 650 buildings across the state.
