FEA worked with the City of Fort Collins Recreation Department to develop a comprehensive Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and Recreation Facility Asset Management Plan (AMP). Our work included validating asset data, inventorying and tagging assets, performing lifecycle cost analyses, and developing a prioritized plan to guide asset investment. We also created a 10-year CIP aligned with the City’s budgeting process and an AMP fully integrated with the City’s Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
The project began by verifying asset data, tagging each asset, and conducting condition assessments. We engaged stakeholders through meetings and interviews to ensure staff informed every stage of planning.
Our team built lifecycle cost models to prioritize maintenance, replacement, and upgrades, resulting in a 10-year CIP that supports the City’s strategic goals. Ultimately, FEA and the City delivered an AMP integrated with the EAM system for long-term asset management.
By focusing on optimizing assets and aligning planning with future needs, FEA helped Fort Collins build a proactive, transparent, and sustainable approach to recreation facility management. Through assessments, stakeholder engagement, and City system integration, we turned strategy into action.
“I appreciated the experience and thoroughness that FEA brought to a complex project that has set us up for success in the next 10 years.”
Aaron Harris, Senior Recreation Manager, City of Fort Collins
