Presenting on Proactive Facilities Operations at EACUBO
FEA Vice President Maureen Roskoski will present at the 2026 EACUBO Annual Meeting, taking place October 12–15 at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo in Buffalo, New York.
Maureen will join Corey Watson of the University of Maine at Augusta to present “Reactive to Ready: Building Proactive Operations Across Campuses,” a session focused on helping higher education institutions strengthen facilities management and move from reactive to more proactive operations.
The session will explore how facilities organizational assessments, benchmarking, and data can help colleges and universities evaluate operations, identify gaps, and make more informed decisions about staffing, organizational structure, funding, and service levels.
Drawing on a case study of several University of Maine campuses, Maureen and Corey will discuss how a capability maturity model can be used to assess facilities organizational maturity and identify opportunities for improvement. They will also highlight how APPA Maintenance, Custodial, and Grounds level of service standards can help institutions better understand staffing needs and establish appropriate service expectations.
The presentation will examine how assessment findings can inform decisions related to staffing, department structure, communication, security partnerships, and service delivery. Attendees will learn how a long-term, collaborative approach to campus facilities management can support a shift from reactive maintenance and operations toward more proactive, data-informed decision-making.
The session will also demonstrate how facilities leaders can use organizational assessments and benchmarking to strengthen the case for resources, improve service delivery, and better align facilities management and safety operations with institutional priorities.
