Michael Payne, PE successfully passed his 8-hour written exam and received an official P.E. number from the state of Virginia. This is a fantastic accomplishment for Mike in his growing career at FEA. Mike has also been promoted to Project Manager. Becoming a Project Manager is something FEA takes seriously and awards with careful consideration. Mike has proven himself time and again and he has risen to meet whatever challenges we’ve given him over the years. Michael Payne is currently a Project Manager with the Facility Engineering Services (FES) group in the Fairfax, VA office. Michael graduated from Pennsylvania State University after receiving both his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering (BAE) and Master of Architectural Engineering (MAE) degrees as part of the structural option in the Integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering program. Michael’s degree focused on analysis and design of advanced structural systems, building performance failures and forensic techniques, building enclosure science and design, advanced computer modeling of building structures, and earthquake resistant design of buildings. In his time with FEA, Michael has developed extensive experience in the repair and restoration engineering field. Michael has worked with many clients on numerous projects providing a large scope of engineering and consulting services to private, professional, and government entities. Michael has provided assessment, design, contract administration, and client consultation for projects that have focused on building assets such as roofs, building envelope, facades, structural systems, parking structures, site-civil and pavements, and others. He also has experience with historical restoration projects and building system controls. In addition to engineering-based services, Michael also has experience performing reserve study analyses, due diligence assessments, and condition assessments for capital expense planning. In addition to being registered Professional Engineer (P.E.), Michael is a licensed asbestos inspector.
