FEA’s Maureen Roskoski to Instruct Building Operator Certification Course on Energy-Efficient Building Operations

FEA is proud to announce that Vice President Maureen Roskoski will serve as the instructor for Parts 3 and 4 of the Building Operator Certification (BOC) Fundamentals of Energy Efficient Building Operations course this fall.

Designed for facility professionals who are new to the industry or looking to strengthen their understanding of building systems and energy management, the Fundamentals course provides a practical introduction to the principles of energy-efficient building operations. Participants gain foundational knowledge they can immediately apply to improve building performance, reduce energy use, and support more effective facility management.

Maureen will lead two key course modules:

  • Part 3: Lighting Fundamentals – September 30, 2026
  • Part 4: Energy Management – October 1, 2026

Throughout the course, participants will explore how major building systems work together, learn the fundamentals of measuring and benchmarking energy performance, and develop practical strategies for improving operational efficiency. The curriculum is based on the nationally recognized Building Operator Certification (BOC) program, which equips facility professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to operate buildings more efficiently and sustainably.

The course is ideal for individuals with less than one year of experience in facilities or energy management, those beginning a career in the built environment, and professionals whose work intersects with facility operations, energy conservation, or resource management.

As FEA’s Vice President and Corporate Sustainability Officer, Maureen has spent her career helping organizations improve facility performance through strategic planning, sustainability, resilience, and asset management. Her passion for education and workforce development has made her a frequent instructor and presenter for industry organizations, where she helps facility professionals build the knowledge and confidence needed to address today’s operational and energy challenges.

The Building Operator Certification Fundamentals of Energy Efficient Building Operations course will be delivered virtually via Zoom beginning September 16, 2026, with Parts 3 and 4 taking place on September 30 and October 1. Participants will gain a strong foundation in building systems, energy efficiency, and operational best practices while learning from experienced industry leaders.
