Advanced Commercial Buildings Competency Model

In collaboration with the Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (DOE EERE) and the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS)/DOE Better Buildings Workforce Guidelines project, the Consortium for Building Energy Innovation (CBEI) team, which included FEA and Penn State, developed a competency model for the Advanced Commercial Building (ACB) workforce that provides a support system to build a better workforce.   The project  focused on the workforce development side of the advanced commercial buildings.  The competency model based on the DOE job task analyses is live on the Department of Labor website as a visual representation of the competencies for an entire industry. It can be used to understand the competencies required to work in the advanced commercial building industry and to match job requirements with industry recognized skills. If you would like to learn more about this project, contact Maureen Roskoski.
